I'm gonna sing you a song...

So I'm waiting at the Jackson redline stop after a night class minding my own business. I notice this man who is singing and I believe attempting to rap-mildly entertaining...he stops singing and turns to one of the support beams (you know, the big ol' ones that hold up everything) and begins talking to the beam. At first I think that maybe there's someone next to him, but no he is definitely talking to the beam and it gets better when I realize he is changing his voice to make the beam "talk"...it went something like this:

Rapper/entertainer/crazy man (putting his arm around the beam): Hi, how you doin tonight?

"Beam:"(in a high pitched voice) Hiii, I'm good

Crazy man: I'm gonna sing you a song

"Beam:" Yeah, sing me a soong!

Crazy man: Alright....(busts out in a exaggerated "rap move" and begins rapping)

I can only hope that the beam enjoyed the song as much as I did and I can only hope I catch another serenade sometime soon.

Just plain scary.

A couple of years ago, our friend Cory was heading back to DePaul after a night out. He got off the el, walked down the stairs, and rounded the corner to exit the station. As he turned the corner, a homeless woman pops up in front of him and looks him straight in the eye. She reaches down, grabs the bottom of her dress..and pulls it up over her head. She laughs this CRAZY laugh while shimming and shaking....Turns out, she had NOTHING on under that dress. Cory said,"I have never seen anything so disturbing. I became a man that night."

What's the difference?

John and I were riding the Red Line train downtown and it was just us and a homeless man on our car. The homeless man is drinking whiskey from a brown bag. He looks over at us and says, "Hey, I gotsa question. Me and my buddies been thinkin' bout this and I've just been wonderin'....but what is the difference between the "Earth" and the "World"? John and I just looked at him for a second...trying to think of a way to explain this to him...and he continues, "I mean, here's the way I see it. You're comin' in from outer space, right? And you're flyin' through the air...and first you're lookin' at "the earth", you know?...And then...you come insiiiide....and then you're in "the world"...Yeah man, that's the way I see it...That's the way I see it, for sure."

At least he's thinking....at least he's thinking.

So we started this blog to keep track of all the wild things that happen to us while using Chicago public transportation. We love going to new parts of the city and exploring unknown areas...but that also means we come across some CRAZY people. We often wonder if we're on Candid Camera. Anyway..we'll post our stories...enjoy.
